Elizabeth (Jane) Harrison

Elizabeth (Jane) Harrison

Administrative Assistant for Outreach & Facilities, Producer of the Summer Arts Festival, Manager of the Artists Registry

Jane began working in the Division of Performing Arts (present day School of Performing Arts ) six months after it was developed, and has been here through four names changes!  Her position has changed several times, as has the duties and tasks that go along with the changes. She has worked as the Manager of the Artists Registry for many years, and enjoys the many facets of working with entertainment groups.  She also enjoys the many challenges and successes of the Summer Arts Festival - her "baby" for many years. Jane believes that the Summer Arts Festival has provided a very positive way for Virginia Tech and the Town of Blacksburg to work together in a true "town and gown" fashion.

What is your favorite place on campus?

Henderson Lawn is probably my most favorite spot because it is the most inviting and unassuming part of campus.  It hosts the campus community as well as the community-at-large.  It has a friendly and open atmosphere that makes everyone feel welcome.  To be able to host the Summer Arts Festival concerts on Henderson Lawn is certainly a great advertising tool for the School of Performing Arts, and a wonderful way for the University and the Town of Blacksburg to come together.  Furthermore, the fact that our own Theatre 101 is located on Henderson Lawn (facing College Ave.) truly gives the community a more inviting approach to the Virginia Tech Campus.
