The people I get to work with. It is exhilirating to work with so many talented, dedicated, gifted people, both faculty/staff and students. As an "administrative type" I could have worked in many settings, but I intentionally chose to work with creative artists throughout my career. I enjoy following the students as they learn and grow to their artistic place. And I do derive great satisfaction from shepherding them through the university systems - from orientation to graduation.
For me, it is the artistic triangle from Henderson/Theatre 101 to the Studio Theatre and Recital Salon in Squires to the new Moss Arts Center. I have been here through the building of each of them, and I love the excitement this anchoring of the arts on campus has created. Even more, I find joy in being only steps away from downtown, the businesses, the community, and more arts in the Lyric. It make it a terrific place to live and work.
I once performed - singing and dancing - in a summer outdoor tent show at a recreational theme park. On top of a mountain. Without a tent. It was taken away when the show ran out of money - but we kept performing on the stage anyway! Not recommended.
