WHAT IS THIS?
For the past two years, the School of Performing Arts has performed rarely-heard musicals as part of the Virginia Tech / Town of Blacksburg Summer Arts Festival. We rehearse the show and perform it within a three-week period, with sold-out crowds attending all performances. This year, we are performing “Fiorello!”, a Pulitzer Prize-winning musical written by the team that created "Fiddler on the Roof." The show is packed with great tunes and lots of laughs. Join our team to showcase your talent and revive a musical that deserves to be heard again! Performances will be August 10 & 11.
HOW DO I JOIN IN?
The show is open to all, but an audition (or short interview) is required. Knowing how to read music is a helpful skill, but it is not required. If you are interested in a non-performance role, contact us and let us know how you’d like to participate.
WHAT SHOULD I PREPARE FOR THE AUDITION?
Please prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre song written prior to 1960 (please bring your sheet music hole-punched and placed in a binder with selection clearly marked). You will also be asked to participate in a series of cold readings from the script (Amanda will select the scenes, so all you need is to come ready to play). If you need help selecting a musical excerpt, please contact Dr. Masters.
Audition sign up sheet is on the Henderson call-board, 1st floor of Henderson Hall.
