Faculty/Guest artist recital

Recital Salon, Squires | Music

August 30, 2019 at 7:30pm

Composer-conductor-pianist Eric Choate joins faculty members Alan Weinstein and Brian Thorsett in this journey from seed to harvest.

A collection of folksongs arranged by Vaughan Williams, Edgar Girtain, and guest Eric Choate explore our relationship to the earth and to one another.

Forgotten composer Frank Tours is represented in his only true song cycle "Seedtime and Harvest," performed on this concert in its U.S. premiere and first hearing since its world premiere nearly 100 years ago.

The second half will feature Samuel Barber's masterwork "Knoxville: Summer of 1915" and guest artist Eric Choate's musical response " ...and fall."
