Now in their 28th year, the Kandinsky Trio presents "Contentment and Tragedy" - a program featuring Mozart's G Major Trio, K. 496 and the Smetana Trio in G Minor, Op. 15.

The Mozart is a wonderful, delicately balanced conversation between three instruments and speaks to the optimism of the Age of Enlightenment.  To contrast, the program will end with Smetana’s masterpiece, the Trio in G Minor. Written in 1855, this elegiac work was composed as a tribute to his eldest daughter who had died the previous year. From its heart wrenching opening to the triumphant finale, this trio stands as stunning testament to music’s ability to transform pain into beauty.
