Composer/performer and media artist Pamela Z makes solo works combining a wide range of vocal techniques with electronic processing, samples, gesture activated MIDI controllers, and video.
She has toured extensively across the U.S., Europe, and Japan; created installations; and has composed scores for dance, film, and new music chamber ensembles. Her numerous awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Creative Capital Fund, the CalArts Alpert Award, the ASCAP Award, and the NEA/JUSFC Fellowship.
This performance culminates a week-long residency between the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech and the School of Performing Arts, and includes a new work designed specifically for the CUBE’s unique environment in collaboration with Eric Lyon, associate professor of music technology and composition.
Presented in partnership with the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech.
"... a constantly evolving musical exploration ... the listner was left with a fresh, direct and personable performance that took changes but remained accessible." - Yiorgos Vassilandonakis, College of Charleston
