Devair Jeffries is a Presidential Pathways Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in the School of Performing Arts. She received her Ph.D. in Theatre Studies at Florida State University, M.A., in Theatre from the University of South Carolina, and B.A. in Theatre Performance with a minor in Studio Art from Winthrop University. Her research implements critical race and Black feminist theories to focus on contemporary African American theatre, specifically representation and racial violence which has been featured in theatre, education, history, and Black studies journals, as well as presented at national and international conferences of related disciplines. She recently collaborated with working partner Deb Kochman to stage their original production One Hundred Years of Hope, which is composed of real interviews addressing topics of racial tension and police brutality in the United States.
