What is the most satisfying or rewarding moment of your artistic process?

I enjoy that challenge of opening eyes to staging possibilities the student had never imagined. There is also great joy in seeing students discover abilities in themselves they never knew they had. The most satisfying moment of the artistic process happens when I understand that I cannot make a design simpler without draining it of life.

Design for the theatre is not an additive process. More design is seldom an answer to an incomplete solution. You must ask - What can I take away? What is not necessary? And what must be strengthened?   The simple yet strong form brings the greatest reward.
