Virginia Tech Band Director Institute

How it Works

Virginia Tech Band Director Institute planned for June 12-15, 2017 has been CANCELED!!!!

Each year, participants from across the country attend the Virginia Tech Band Director Institute. The program is a four-day symposium designed for wind band teachers of all levels.

Our goal is to offer a variety of opportunities that address the dual roles of conductor and educator in order to provide a growth experience for anyone interested in the art of teaching and conducting.

The Virginia Tech Band Director Institute is one of the most affordable offerings of its kind.

Participate in sessions covering a wide range of topics, including:

·      Gesture

·      Repertoire and programming

·      Score Interpretation

·      Rehearsal techniques

·      Large ensemble pedagogy

·      Program development

Conducting participants will conduct selected repertoire for full band. These participants will also receive coaching and video feedback from the clinicians. Twenty conducting participant spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. An unlimited number of spots are available for non-conducting participants.

Meet and interact with colleagues from around country.
